A theatrical journey through the village with the people of Hosman and actors from Sibiu

Five theater artists from Berlin journey to Romania in search of their roots. In Hosman, close to Sibiu, the people talk to them about their lives. A piece of theater is created.
Zalina – a fairytale play about real life in a Transylvanian village. In the fight against illusions, against being forgotten and silenced, the only recourse is the telling of stories until they touch even those who did not stir.
Young Zalina searches for her own path between old traditions and new dreams… Her desperation summons two archaic powers: the light Fat Frumos and the dark Zmeu. Each tries to pull Zalina to their side, but she remains true to herself and instead seeks contact to the people. She goes into their homes, asks questions and, in doing so, hears stories that she never knew existed. The telling of these stories, these acts of remembering change not only the young girl and her desire to leave her village; the stories develop a life of their own and soon stand against these two ancient powers…
The audience is invited to accompany young Zalina on her way through her home community, to look behind the façades and get a glimpse of everyday life in a Romanian village. The theatrical stroll, performed by the people of Hosman and professional actors, ends when everyone gathers at the old mill for an after show drink.
